iRobot Models

With their powerful hardware and sensors, robots like the Roomba can gather a large amount of data. However, their privacy policies usually conceal the fact that humans will be looking at this data.

For instance, a guideline for the mop-and-vacuum combination Combo j9+ says that human observers will be looking at images of carpets and other obstacles. These images can help improve the device's obstacle avoidance algorithm.

Roomba i3 EVO

The i3 is the ideal robot for flooring with no padding, as it is excellent at picking up small debris. It also does a great job with pet hair, though it isn't able to remove large clumps of hair on carpeting. The only issue is the high cost.

The Roomba I3 EVO comes with an identical design to the i1 however, it has a significant improvement: imprint intelligent mapping. When buying a new Roomba you must also be aware that the brushes and filters supplied by the manufacturer need to be changed regularly. The 960, just like all robot vacuums, will require maintenance parts at some time. The iRobot App will track the frequency at which you need to replace your dust bin, filter and spinning brush.
