If you're on a budget and don't require a stroller that can double as a car seat carrier, the Babyzen Yoyo is a good option. It features a flip-flop-friendly one-step footbrake.

It's simple to push, and it is solid when walking along woodland paths and kerbs. It's also a breeze to fold.

1. Babyzen YOYO2

The Babyzen YOYO2 has earned a name as the most lightweight buggy single for jet-setters and city dwellers alike, thanks to its super nimble manoeuvrability and fold that fits in the overhead luggage of an aeroplane. This latest version boasts independent suspension on all four wheels, made from Hytrel Elastomer, which allows it to effortlessly navigate all types of surface and terrain'.

The bent fabric bassinet, the base YOYO2 frame and 6+ months colour pack combine to create a chic pushchair that has a soft, elegant aesthetic. The frame itself weighs just over a kilogram and is so light that you can lift it directly from the box (and do so one-handed).

The hood, as an example snaps onto the YOYO2 with a reassuring way. It is machine washable at 30deg which helps avoid staining caused by smushed and mashed rice cakes and carrot puffs. It can be used as a pram right from birth using the Newborn Pack or bassinet, or converted into a stroller from 6 months using the YOYO Connect additional chassis.

2. Evenflo Pivot Xplore

The Evenflo Pivot Xplore is a great choice for parents looking for an adaptable stroller wagon. It transforms from a stroller to wagon just by flipping the handle, so parents can select which mode they prefer on their trip. The wagon can accommodate one or two children from 6 months to 5 years old. It has a huge storage basket that can accommodate everything you need on the go.

The Xplore also has two canopies that move from front to back, ensuring ample sun protection for all family members. It also has a footwell that is not as large or deep as other wagons, so it may not be suitable for long-distance excursions or for napping.

The frame on the Xplore is solid and sturdy, although it does not have the same flex as some of the other wagons we have tested. It is also more difficult than other wagons to fold and does not lock tightly after folding. It is easy to move however, and can fit through doors that are narrower than 28 inches.

3. Delta Children LX Side-by-Side

This basic double stroller from Delta Children is an excellent option for parents who want an affordable second stroller for their travels. It scored high in our Strollers and Multiples Test for its weight and folded dimensions, which means it's lightweight and compact when folded and easy to carry and put in a trunk of a car. It also has an adjustable reclining seat that can be positioned in several positions as well as a parent cup holder. Other key features include two large hanging storage bags as well as 360-degree shock-absorbing front wheels.

It performed better in our push and turn test than a lot of the other strollers we tested but is nonetheless difficult to maneuver on uneven ground or through narrow doors. The sunshades are among the smallest we tested, offering only a direct overhead coverage and no peekaboo windows. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 and Zoe Twin+ have larger canopy sizes.

The Delta took us just over 3 minutes to put together using an average manual and no components required tools. But, it's lacking some critical features that we believe it is important to consider as non-negotiable features for a double stroller like a large basket, and reclining seats with adjustable leg rests.

4. Maxi-Cosi Zelia 2-in-1

The Zelia is the latest model in Maxi-Cosi's range of pushchairs and is advertised as an urban travel system. It is designed to accommodate baby from birth up to approximately 3.5 years old, and can be converted into a seat and carrycot with only a few clicks. It can also be used with Maxi Cosi capsule car seats and comes complete with the lightweight Mico 30 infant car seat, a stay-incar base and a reversible carriage.

It is really easy to maneuver, and the one-hand reclining of the seat and the super large shopping basket make it simple for parent-tots to get the child in and out of the seat quickly. The narrow pushchair sailed through every day bumps and doors easily.

The front wheels can be locked in an forward position or allow them to swivel which helps when covering rough terrain. On our walk along the stony path we allowed them to swivel and it handled this fairly well, though it did appear a little bumpier than others that we tested.

5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2

Baby Jogger is most well-known for its three-wheeled, all-terrain, jogging strollers. However, they also produce a wide variety of pushchairs that have four wheels. The City Tour 2 is one of their most sought-after models. It folds easily and can fit in the boot of a car even with an attached carrycot.

It is a bit heavier than other strollers that we tested but the wheels are rubber composite, which makes it feel well-built and sturdy. It's a breeze to maneuver across all types of terrain and it's also a breeze to lift even with two kids and shopping bags.

The carrycot and the seat both have hoods with pull-down sun canopy extensions that are UV50+. They are sturdy and waterproof, unlike other hoods for prams that can be blown back into toddlers' faces.

It doesn't have a lot of storage space but it has an ample basket that is deep enough to accommodate a changing bag or a large amount of groceries. It can also be connected with the Baby Jogger infant car seat to create a travel system for infants up to 20 lb (car seat and adapters are sold separately). If you need a stroller that can be used on the road, the City Tour 2 is an ideal choice.

6. Nuna Mixx Next

When the Nuna Mixx first rolled onto the scene, it stole the hearts of parents across the world. It's a frame made of aluminum that will see you through your baby's early days and beyond. It has many standout features, like the ability of the seat to be flipped between the front facing parent and the outside as well as a large UPF50+ canopy with an eye-shade that flips out, as well as an adjustable handlebar.

The seat can be reclined to many different positions. It also comes with a double breathable mattress that's suitable for babies.

The canopy/seat has two large sun visors that can be fixed or removed. Both are UPF50+. However the toggle closure isn't ideal - it's not as silent as Velcro and may wake napping babies.

The Duet is a stroller that can be used side-by-side and can be adapted to accommodate twins or siblings (up to a maximum of 22kg per seat). It is compatible with two infant car seat and some carrycots. In twin-mode, the seats can be facing each other or can rotate around to face parents, theoretically reducing sibling disputes over who sits with mom and dad. It comes with a big tray for gears with a bottle holder as well as snack tray. It also has an automatic frame lock and a superior compact fold.

8. Baby Jogger Urban Glide 2.
