UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles on your doors will wear out and will require replacement handles for upvc windows. It is essential to keep the same dimensions as the handles you have previously replaced when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently than lever handles found on most doors. These handle types can either work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are usually used on UPVC double glazed doors and come in a variety of styles and styles.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in several finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for its intended use.

All UPVC lever pads for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on the uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres allow for a larger size of handle which is often a benefit when replacing a faulty or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which can solve the problem of door handles that sag out of their horizontal position when they are not being used.

When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also referred to as the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the right handles.

After you have identified the correct PZ size, you will need to ensure that the push and lever pads are designed to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. These are typically of a round or square design with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position when not being used, instead of hanging out and possibly sticking in the frame. Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are commonly used on uPVC doors, but can be utilized on other types of doors. They work by using a key that unlock a cylinder that will reveal pins that can be aligned with those in the lock body, allowing them to turn the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is crucial; it is contingent on the way your door and handle are used. For instance, doors that are external must be secured with a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that can increase security, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder should be properly measured to ensure it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. If you cannot measure with the lock in position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, therefore it is important that it's not too long.

The design of many modern cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce attack chances by forcing the cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This can help to deflect attacks and keep your door safe.

There are also cylinders that have been made to withstand snapping. This is a more frequent type of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is smashed by a tool that is specially designed to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located inside the base plate of your door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to bring your multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after use. The handles had no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This component is the most effective way to fix this problem. It also helps prevent your patio door handle replacement from becoming stuck in either the closed or open position, as they aren't easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were created to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They are not compatible with handles that are not sprung and you'll have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please see the image for a detailed diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as a single unit. They have a square-cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.
