Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The stats of an item are improved through upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases a stat linearly.

Players can recycle six items at once to gauge the upgraded component of each Item upgrader kit. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to increase the stats on your weapon and armor. The majority of weapons can be upgraded with a prefix, such as a rune, or an insignia. Some can be improved with the suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item to add an adjective, for example 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor. There are some exceptions, however. the non-inscribable wands, the foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any mods at all.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to convey visual information. They move to grab the viewer's eye and stimulate curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, making them even more effective in conveying messages across language barriers. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.

Each glyph has a set of values that it could enhance a stat according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This range is the maximum value that a glyph can improve a stat by, not the amount that it actually increases it by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the product you are creating it for.

The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items can't be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use but it hasn't been applied to the gear yet, you can move the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.

If you are looking to remove the glyph from an item upgrader kit, you will need to save it using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item on which the glyph is installed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered by removing the glyph fragments.

A glyph added to an item could cause it to become unstable and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you take it down. You can also add the glyph on your equipment to provide an additional benefit. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly instead of all at one time. Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens allow players to alter the affixes they use on their equipment and weapons, and can be found in various ways such as in mistery boxes, as rare drops from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player a random affix that is usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be a good way to reroll weapon stats and can be upgraded for better damage or perks.

Items that have been rerolled will not appear in the upgrade menu, but they are still eligible to receive upgrades. When you press the "upgrade button", you can recycle these items that have been rerolled. This will change the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items be chosen for recycling. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined based on the item level upgrade's rarity as well as its level.
